back to work
I've been in Bristol for almost 2 weeks now and i'm really enjoying both the work and the city. The British Empire and Commonwealth Museum is a really interesting place and i'm finding working with the fundraising and development team lots of fun. I'm learning a lot which is good, and I'm very pleased that I chose this placement. There have been a few frustrations and the main project I was meant to be working on has become a bit stalled, but I've been given another, smaller project to work on while we work out the best way to proceed with the main project. So i'm not short of work. The only problem is that I'm not sure I'll be able to see either project through to completion in the 8 weeks I'm there. However I should have them almost done and so whoever takes them over won't have too much to do hopefully.
I've only had one day to really explore Bristol but I went up to Clifton to see the Suspension Bridge and have a look around. It is just a stunning area of what I'm learning is a really nice city. I feel more at home in Bristol than I did in leicester, I'm not sure if that is because of the warmer weather, the fact that Brisol is by the water, or just the different feel to the city. Whatever it is I think I am going to be very happy living there for 8 weeks.
Here are some photos from around Clifton - I'll post more next time I get acccess to the internet.

This is apparently the longest crescent in Europe. I was certainly impressed as I turned the corner and saw it.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge. Designed by Brunel and completed after his death by his colleagues as a way of expressing their regard for him.

Views over the city from near the bridge. Although there is less city and more country in this shot. You'd barely know that it was taken only a 15 minute walk out of the centre of Bristol.
